Pi Studios was making this? It sort of looks OK, but probably couldn't touch something Konami would do on their own. Arc Systems wouldn't have been too bad- they did handle another 2D sidescroller well with Hard Corps.
The PS2 Bonk remake is more like it. Its art style is more true to the originals.
Konami can't do anything on their own anymore. All they have left are Kojima's team and mobile/social and pachinko developers.

And soccer. Recent iterations of PES have been pretty good though not quite the equal of FIFA.

I had the GameCube one and I always thought the graphics looked pretty cheap, but it played well. This new one looks like it would have been alright, but the level design is pretty dull from that video.
