Outdoor? They poop outside! They even dig a tiny whole and bury it, the paranoid dears. So, maybe 3.

Cats rule
I had a cat for 15 years.
Cleaning up their poop indoors sucks, but we had too many wildlife predators in the area, and the cat was declawed, so it had to stay inside.
Cats are much better pets when you can let them chill outside.
This. This times a billion. And if there's 3 people in your house, I still feel 3 cats are too many.
