Thread: Tekken Tag Tournament 2 UNLIMITED

  1. Thumbs Up Tekken Tag Tournament 2 UNLIMITED

Pre-Show Photo of Namco’s Booth at AOU Shows Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2

    SRK says:

The organizers of the 2012 AOU show have tweeted an early, pre-show pic of Namco’s booth at this weekends AOU show in Japan. More importantly, the picture shows a giant banner announcing Tekken Unlimited Tag Tournament 2 which is probably the new version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 that they announced earlier this month. What’s interesting is that the banner seems to tout 7 vs 7 combat. What exactly this is referring to, whether it’s an actual 7 player co-op mode or just a 14 man team tournament format, we’re sure to find out this weekend when Namco makes their official announcement.
Editors Note: This might be called Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Unlimited.

The original Twitter post from AOUSHOW 2012 is here. It shows a few other previously unannounced arcade games.

7 on 7 combat should be bananas, but I highly doubt it will be 14 person simultaneous play.

It would be sweet if it was simultaneous play.

I think the last fighter to have more than 2 people fighting simultaneously was what, Def Jam Fight For New York?

There's definitely an untapped potential there for fighting games with larger player counts.

  3. SFxT has 4 player simultaneous Scramble mode, and that's even playable online. But yeah, before that was DJFFNY (unless Def Jam for 360 had 4 player, but I never played anything more than the demo for that game).

  4. Some dude on neogaf said the moonlanguage there says "Fighting alone? Or fight together?" suggesting those are 1s and not 7s. Which would jive with Shou saying the game was too chaotic or whatever for japanese consumption. Maybe a system like skullgirls or CVS where ninnies can just pick one character and not be terribly disadavantaged?

  5. Those are some funny looking 1s then.

  6. I'd be more inclined to believe those are 1s. How the hell would they even handle 7 vs. 7 in either the arcade or at home? How would you tag?

  7. Maybe it's some kind of team battle mode, like the old games have.

  8. Yah, whoever translated it is right. The tagline is is basically "fight alone or together?" and it's 1 vs 1 from my view. TTT2 is an uber flop for how much arcades have paid for it. Even Namco arcades in the city have put it down to 2 plays for 100 yen which is only done for old titles losing staying power (ie games with console ports or games with bad income). One of the local operators I know said that if they didn't lower the price, no one would play.

  9. Someone just posted more pics at neogaf. Each player chooses whether they want to use 1 or 2 characters.

  10. Well, this pretty much solidifies that those "7s" were actually 1s:
