Long interview on the angriest site on the internet.
I love how they namedrop King of Dragon Pass, Sleeping Beauty, and Final Fantasy Tactics. I'm pretty hyped, though not really interested in the multiplayer aspect.

The Kickstarter project just went live: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...he-banner-saga
$100,000 goal by April 20th, already up to $18,000
$10 minimum for a copy. Includes single-player and multiplayer.
Dropping $10 based on a trailer and good intentions is awful?
I mean what's not to like about people putting up money based on their faith that a good project will deliver instead of sourcing funds from someone that's only interested in making a game that sells? I love this shit.
This might be the first kickstarter I partake in, once I figure out if I'll actually play this game. I always like the idea of SRPGs more than playing them.
People have been getting paid to make games since long before Kick starter came out. In this case they've even takilen the initiative of developing much of it out of pocket to show what they have.
That said, I'm wary of funding a first time developer. Not because of lack of experience but because a lack of existing revenue streams leaves them vulnerable should they need to extend development.

I'm actually not going to contribute to this one. The talk about three chapters makes me worried that this will be yet another episodic disaster. Plus, turn-based tactics is really easy to screw up - I really dislike the heavily deterministic tactical games like Advance Wars or Fire Emblem where it's less about developing your own methods and more about divining the One True Method to finish a map. There's much less of a guarantee of quality with this game than with the Inxile or Double Fine titles.
This ends in 3 hours. It wound up bringing in over $700,000 and the project scope has increased accordingly. The entire soundtrack will be recorded by a real orchestra, more single-player and multiplayer content, XBLA/PSN ports confirmed (to be started after the PC and Mac versions have been released).
