I didn't expect Japan to get so good at making these games, but both Vanquish and Binary Domain are excellent. Vanquish is my favorite in the genre so far (when it comes to single-player, at least), and Binary Domain is close.

I wish Binary Domain was on PC. It would solve all the issues I had with it.

Vanquish is really fucking good, but it's also very atypical of Japanese development right now, and I don't think it did very well in Japan.

I had no idea BD was SEGA. Looked like some generic trash TPS by like Majesco, THQ, or something.

I played a bit of it and thought it was really good, but the art design is very much lacking, which seems to be par for the course when Japanese developers try to cater their art style to Western tastes.

In fairness, American attempts to make anime-styled art are similarly awful.
