I will lose my mind if that doesn't get made. I mean, a dull Lesiure Suit Larry remake was funded quickly enough! And the Space Quest voice cast is so good.

Maybe the license really is that important.

They fucked up with that "rapid prototyping" gimmick where they would release a "demo" after each milestone. It was obviously just a fun marketing gimmick, but it confused people who then thought the final product would be a browser game. It was a whole debacle and the campaign slammed to a halt almost instantly.

Also, they are doing zero press to promote it, and it's going ignored by the media.

Couldn't you even do it through kickstarter?
Say you are hoping to get $250,000 for your budget.
Make it so that you have a $25,000 tier that includes 1% ownership of that particular game, and make only 10 of them available. Bam! you make your goal and only give up 10% of the rights of that game.

I remember reading that Kickstarter does not allow for selling "shares" as rewards. But I don't remember why not.
