    That translates to say there's an Epic Mickey 2 presentation next week. A 3DS version called Power of Illusion, and a "classic" 2D game are expected to be shown.

    It's not clear whether Epic Mickey 2: Power of Illusion is a separate game, or the name of the multi-platform Epic Mickey 2 project Disney has had a hard time keeping under wraps.

    We expect it's a separate companion game, given that Power of Illusion wasn't one of the names a Disney Epic Mickey 2 survey gauged fan interest about.

    I could have sworn I started a thread about the console Epic Mickey 2, but I can't find it. I am guessing this is a related but different game and that development hasn't moved to the 3DS, but I guess we'll know by E3.

    edit: I think I have this figured out. There is going to be Epic Mickey 2 on 360, PS3, Wii U, and 3DS. Then there is going to be Power of Illusion, which I pray is a sequel to Castle/World of Illusion on 3DS as well.

  2. I keep thinking "I ought to play Epic Mickey some day" and then realize I'd need to plug in my Wii to do it. So that doesn't seem likely.

    It's nice to see the sequel on a system that isn't dead yet. Maybe they'll do an HD update of the Wii version?

    I lost interest in the original after they dropped evil rat Mickey and instead of saying Disney wouldn't let them do it they gave some bullshit PR story that ohhhh playtesters love Mickey soooo much they don't want to see his appearance altered, aww. I call BS.

    See also huge expectation-building speeches degenerating to wahh making a camera for a 3D game is hard.

  5. Epic Mickey was okay in the same way that a lot of 3D platformers in the 32-bit days were. It had direction, idealism, and interesting concepts which all fell under the rickety camera and controls holding it up. This is not the fault of hardware specifically but a developer that seemed to have little idea of how to make their vision fully functional.

    So I'm hoping that lessons were learned and the sequel is as interesting to play as all the mechanics they were toying with. Also, pushing those mechanics (good/bad, thinner/paint, creation/destruction) more.

    I think Epic Mickey was highly underrated, although every complaint about the camera was warranted. It was atrocious.

    I like musicals better than reading dialog in 201X, so that's an improvement.

  9. The 3DS version is confirmed in this month's Nintendo Power.

    It will be developed by Dream Rift (Monster Tale, Henry Hatsworth). WOO HOOOO!
