The world doesn't need another James Pond game.
There's a tidal wave of shitty Kickstarters for games nobody cares about.
Agreed. I've got a few things backed that have shown good ideas presented well (Hot Tin Roof, Neverending Nightmares, Mighty No. 9) but a lot of stuff on there is just pure crap right now. Lots of "If I get money I promise to be awesome" with nothing to back it up.
There's also a lot of overly ambitious goals from developers nobody has ever heard of. You'd think they'd figure out that (barring a great demo) if nobody's ever heard of them, $20,000 is as high as the wishful thinking budget should go, and to develop a game within that limitation. Deliver something small, good, and quick, and then just maybe there will be a fan base willing to give $100,000. Hyper Light Drifters are incredibly rare.
James
James Pond? A pun was enough to get a game green-lighted in 94, but things are different now.
Step up to grown ups.
Boo, Hiss.
Hyper Light Drifters are also incredibly awesome-looking.
James Pond fans don't even like James Pond. The games played fine but I doubt many have people attachment to the stupid character itself. I would rather see a completely new 2d platformer from those guys instead of resurrecting the old franchise.
