It would be too much to hope that Revenge of Shinobi is the original version, isn't it.
Figured we could use a thread for these!
SEGA and M2 are doing more SEGA AGES releases, this time on XBLA and PSN. The first two packs were released on XBLA yesterday: Alex Kidd & Co and Monster World Collection. The former contains, weirdly, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Super Hang On (Arcade), and Revenge Of Shinobi. The latter contains Wonder Boy In Monster Land (Arcade), Wonder Boy In Monster World, and Monster World IV (newly localized). Also strangely, these games are being released individually on PSN (at $5 each) instead of in packs.
Next week, XBLA is getting Golden Axe (Arcade original and Genesis sequels) and Streets of Rage collections.
Why these are cool:
- The emulation is as good as you could expect from M2, with accurate audio and a total lack of tearing, stuttering, and lag
- Each game includes each released regional variant, which can be a huge deal
- There are fairly comprehensive display options
- Each game has newly-added challenges with associated leaderboards, some of which are excellent
- This includes the newly-translated Monster World IV
- They added real deal and red-blue 3D to Super Hang On, holy shit

Probably. No Spider-Man, Rambo, Batman, or Godzilla for you!
I still call bullshit on the GA and SOR packs. Those games have been done to death. After the amazing gesture Sega makes with Monster World IV, it goes right back to easy cash runs.
Hell, at least Alex Kidd in Miracle World was rereleased. That's an underrated classic.
MWIV with the other 56 games in the Steam Genesis & Mega Drive Classics please.
Countdown to the de facto end of the console generation: 5 exclusives
Most recent: Deadly Premonition: Director's Cut (4/30)
Next up: The Last of Us (6/11)
Later: Puppeteer (9/10), Beyond: Two Souls (10/18), Rain (TBA), Until Dawn (TBA)
You should be asking for M2 to take over the Steam releases, imo (not that it would ever ever happen)
Yeah, I remembered that right after posting. I think that I was always fine playing it in Japanese, so it's kind of easy to forget.
They've been done to death, yeah, but they are good to great games and these will be the best re-releases of them. You'll get Bare Knuckle III, too!Originally Posted by Melf
Hopefully they do more of these with some more interesting game choices.

Yeah, if I were going for totally unrealistic, I'd ask for third party games to be included so I could get Vampire Killer and Hard Corps.
