Thread: Hara-Kiri By Takashi Miike Coming Stateside

  1. Hara-Kiri By Takashi Miike Coming Stateside

An tale of revenge, honor and disgrace, centering on a poverty-stricken samurai who discovers the fate of his ronin son-in-law, setting in motion a tense showdown of vengeance against the house of a feudal lord.
I guess it was done around the same time as 13 Assassins. I love these films so I'll definitely check it out, a lot of the same actors from 13 Assassins are present as well. I would be very happy if Miike got really good at these films, maybe even getting close to Kurosawa, but he's got a long way to go.

  2. 13 Assassins was so damn good.

Fingers crossed this one is as well.
MechDeus - Nick is the Bruce Wayne to Yoshi's Jean-Paul Valley.

  3. The excellent original is on Hulu Plus for anyone who still wants to watch it after seeing the entire story arc in the trailer. I think I saw it on Vudu for a buck or two as well.

  4. I was about to ask if this was a remake.

    EDIT:

Totally should watch the original then go see the new one.

It is good to carry some powdered rouge in one's sleeve. It may happen that when one is sobering up or waking from sleep, a samurai's complexion may be poor. At such a time it is good to take out and apply some powdered rouge.

  5. I like how they show the camera crew as though they're a naturally occurring event in the landscape.

I'm thinking the same thing, the question though is which order? Probably original first.
