You might have an IRQ problem with your sound blaster and the modem, gl with that.
I didn't do any of that stuff, except for Ultima VII. And I never got the sound to work in that game.
I had all those dumb numbers memorized for maximum compatibility. I'm really surprised; I had some terrible knock-off sound card in my Packard Bell, but I never had a problem with sound. I miss that computer.

My PC came with Vista, and I've gotten used to it.
I mess around with AROS and Haiku occasionally, just to see how they're progressing, but neither one can replace Windows for me yet.
I had multiple boot discs... different ones for different games. I forgot the name of it, but there was one game that the only way I could have enough conventional memory to run it was to disable the mouse... but you needed the mouse to play it.
