I had way more fun with the Metal Slug games than any of the Contras, or Gunstar. Some of the Contra games, for me, have parts that go past the line of being hard but fun and start to feel like a chore. I never get that feeling from any of the Metal Slug games.
    Where I play

Eh... The last stage of Metal Slug 3 can cross the line.

  5. I don't have a genesis, and played hard corps once and didn't like it. Honestly, it sounds like everyone here is blindly in love with the game, but can someone let me know if I can TRY this on my PC SOMEHOW, the experience would be the same? Or does it rely on the original hardware?

I am very curious about this now.

Wasn't the stage the length of the entire rest of the game put together, or did it just feel like it?

Slug 1, X, and 3 are better than any Contra. The rest of the Slugs range from terrible to okay. That's not to say Hard Corps and Gunstar aren't great, however.

Darmonde: If you were somehow able to figure out a magical way of playing it on PC, make sure you have a good controller, you're going to need it. I don't think I've ever gotten past the 2nd or 3rd stage, although the Japanese version is supposedly easier since you can take more than one hit to die.

    Use Kega Fusion.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

  9. I use motionjoy which lets me plug in a ds3. Its worked perfectly for me so far, for everything I've tried. I just don't want to magically try it only to hear that it's not the same without the original speed/sound/controller/tube tv.

Kega Fusion was the one mentioned in that emu thread, will do.

The start of the last stage is almost exactly the halfway point of the game.
