How could you trust a man that looks like the missing link?
Because the only bigger Genesis nerd on the planet is Melf.
I use a Model 2, but its a VA4 model. I also have a launch model 1 (that is my original Genesis from childhood) but I didn't want to deal with tapping the stereo audio from the headphone jack and such. Though I have a Mega SG coming tomorrow, and will be using that.
My model 1 died last year. I’m currently using a model 2. I do notice a slight difference in sound with a small handful of game and the rest sound pretty good.
I think he’s talking about Metal Jesus.
I like MJ. He’s the kind of guy that I can go shoot some pool and have a beer with at the bar down the street. I don’t always need the most tech savvy guy for a review, sometimes just getting to the point and being a gaming fan is all I need.
I like the Mega SG quite a bit. It runs most SMS and SG-1000 games and seems to be using the original SG-1000 palette (not completely sure on this, but the colors look better than what they do on my JP SMS, which makes the games look darker ala 2600 games on the 7800). It even runs Virtua Racing! I was able to play SMS and SG-1000 games directly off the Everdrive, though GG games (aside from the ones in SMS mode) don't yet work. I also tried the Sega CD out. It works well, but I wasn't aware of Final Fight CD using so much dithering. It's not a game well suited to LCD screens and the turning the dithering filter on blurred stuff that wasn't supposed to be blurred.
How's the sound?
To boldly go where lots of men have gone before...
I'm no expert on sound, but it sounds good to me and definitely noticed the stereo in games like Streets of Rage 2 and Darius II/Sagaia. SMS FM sounds closer to the JP SMS than the Genesis, though Rastan's FM doesn't sound right. That's the only one so far that sounds better with the Everdrive V2/X7 mapper on the Mega SG.
