A fellow on the Sega-16 forums by the usename gasega68k has recently put together some phenomenal homebrew efforts. After porting Wolfenstein 3D intact to the stock Genesis, he's now working on a Sonic kart racer. Here's an earl demo video:

Incredible! It has all the sound effects and music, and all the stages. He's going to incorporate Spear of Destiny next.

This is a stock Genesis, mind you.

I get the "because I can" motivation for trying to squeeze these games onto the Genesis, but I don't understand actually playing them at all. Wolf 3D was done pretty well on the Jaguar in 1994 if you have to play it on a console.

Any idea how big it is? Just trying to get an idea if it could have fit on a cart back then for the Genesis.

Jaguar and 3DO were really good.

They weren't the PC game. I didn't like the graphical and sound changes at all, personally. 'Smoother =/= better'

Wolf 3D was a pretty singularly important game for me, more so than Doom. Something about the way it sounds through a Soundblaster card got lost in the translation to 3DO/Jag.
