There was a decent PC Engine port but due to space limitations it cut out so much that it radically changes the game for the worse.

The thread bump made me think it was about this news: https://gematsu.com/2018/03/sega-gen...s4-xbox-one-pc
Sega will release Sega Genesis Classics (titled Sega Mega Drive Classics in Europe) for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide on May 29, the company announced.
The collection has over 50 Sega Genesis / Mega Drive titles from arcade action to shooters, beat’em ups, puzzlers, and more with modern features including online multiplayer, achievements, mirror modes, rewind and save states, and more.
OMG you're right. It's not too far off from the arcade one.
You can't use melee attacks on the PCE version. Lame, especially if you're trying to hit one of those guys that blocks your shurikens. They didn't even bother with the bonus stages. And level 2? Also gone completely.Originally Posted by GohanX

SMS Shinobi is my favourite version of the first game. Often arcade games feel downgraded on console but they reworked Shinobi in so many areas that I almost consider it a different game.

They used the Konami port method for that one, made it a much better game than if they had tried to do a straight port.
Seriously.
NES Life Force over arcade Salamander any day.
