Wow, that is massive. I'm surprised that so many tanks were gasoline powered; I would have assumed diesel propulsion.

I think most of them were diesel in the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Things were not so standardized back in the 30s and 40s. Each vehicle in a group might run on different fuels. At the start of the war, most tanks had airplane style engines. By the end of it the same class of tank might have dual Cadillac engines.

The single fuel type philosophy was something we learned from ww2.

    YES!

Imagine how easy the Dragonlord would be to defeat with a tank!

    dude, I know!

Why are there not more tank rpgs? There is what? the metal max games that never come over? And Valkyria Chronicles? Which we haven't gotten every installment of!

Are generic fantasy games really that much better?

  5. They make WWII RTS' with tanks and there are bunches of hex turn-based games with tanks. I think the issue is that there's only one fairly tiny group that plays all of those and no one else gives a shit.

And there's always some Advance Wars. [edit] And Ring of Red!

No one cares about those boring American and European RTS games. They have no character.

Advanced wars is good though. A little simple but tons of character.

    ROCKET SLIME!

I love shooting the DQ Hero's legendary sword through a gigantic tank turret.

Back in WWII, tanks must have had terrible cooling problems. Trying to move a lump that's so heavy with not a lot of power, and almost no airflow.
