Thread: What Are You Playing (Fall 2012)

  1. I wasted 9 hours away today on xenoblade chronicles.
    It felt GREAT!

I just watched somebody beat him on youtube and wrote down the order of the boss's moves. When you know what's coming you know where you can stand/jump to avoid damage. I could have just kept trying, and eventually I'd have memorized the order of his patterns all old-fashioned-like, but by then I was ready for it to be over.

Finally got my Technika Tune LE in the mail.

Everything else aside, this game is fucking gorgeous on the OLED screen.

Agreed..best Castlevania. SOTN is close, and amazing, but isn't true CV.
In an attempt to combat my pile of shame, i'm drudging through disc 2 of Blue Dragon. OMG that boss theme with the singing.

On my Xmas list..that and The Last Story. I still love that running video on the Xenoblade thread.

  6. 3DS round up:

Kangdom Hearts 3D - After the previous non-BBS iterations it feels great to have a real KH game again. The constant back-and-forth is a little annoying since it means I'm basically always playing the same level twice in a row, but like BBS there's different areas, bosses, and story for each so it's not really that bad. Having to rub plush animals to unlock passive abilities seems odd, and I can't tell if they're permanent or locked to what plushies are equipped but at least evolution carries over between both characters. They're also really starting to rub in that I never finished 358/2.

Shinobi - Started this on very hard and it's pretty awesome. Responsive controls and very memorization-heavy, it feels like a really solid old-school game. My only complaints are that the cutscenes suck and I have to manually save to make sure I won't have to watch them again, and that coming up over an edge on walls that can be climbed up or wall-jumped up seems really sloppy.

Super Mario 3D Land - Feels like a sequel to Mario 3, I'm enjoying this a lot.

Resident Evil Revelations - Only played a couple minutes but the aiming seems really slippery. I've got a feeling that not having a second analog is going to make me want to cut myself, but it does look really cool.

My issue is more that I'm not doing enough damage, I guess I'm not hitting the button fast enough when I attack. I almost ran out of time before dying and he still had 1/3 health. Motherfucker.

  8. A guy that I work with just finished a project last night that he's been working on, called Epic Saga. Free to download from http://williamjacksonstories.com/ Old style RPG, he had told me the program he used to create it but I don't recall what it was. I haven't tried too much yet, but it seems like a fun diversion so far.

  9. Takes me back to the days of Angelfire.
