  1. Star Wars: Episode VII

I really liked it. Extra kudos for keeping the stupid obligatory wilhelm scream downmixed to barely audible.

The Joseph Campbell outline was followed exactly. Not a bad thing.

So it was really good but a little uneven and felt like it was rushing everywhere. My favorite parts are when it slows down and you can drink in the gorgeous landscapes. All the new people are great. The next one should be even better.

I agree about Ren being a fantastic new villain. He is the star of the movie in my opinion and the best written character

The best scenes of the movie feel like a comic come to life, just like the old ones.

  3. It's probably just because he's so new and fresh, but the more I think about the two of them, I'm starting to like BB-8 more than R2D2.

And I want one of my own.

Magnified specified this series, which I agree with.

No but it's one of the measurements. Slow pacing can make it hard to rewatch a movie, or affect the flow of it. ANH I start to notice the time, and how long it's taking to get anywhere. Empire doesn't have that issue and for me is the more enjoyable viewing experience.

R2-D2 had the C-3PO albatross tied around his neck, so I'm not sure it's an apples-to-apples comparison. I do like BB-8 though.

You guys are nuts. Temper tantrums are are hardly awesome. He's basically an idiot teenager who struggled to defeat a non-Force sensitive Stormtrooper and a Force sensitive with zero training. I still think I nailed it earlier that he's basically Hayden Christensen with better writing but less (in character) skill, and I can't insult him much more than that.

I'm curious to see what else they do with the Knights of Ren though, since they seem to have different powers than the Sith.

edit: Maybe his inevitable redemption in Episode IX will be to take the awkward Stormtrooper to the prom.

Slow pacing makes it hard to re-watch a movie only if said slow parts aren't interesting or well-done. Alien is a very slow-paced movie, but I can watch that shit all day long.

He's terrible as a badass or a follow up to Vader but he does make a good character for what's going on. While I made fun of him for removing his mask, his babyface really helped sell his age, how weak he is, and likely how fast he switched to the dark side. He has no real clue who he is and is desperately trying to prove himself, also showing himself to be easily manipulated.

And if nothing else, he's less of a whiny bitch than Luke was in ANH and had none of the cringe of Anakin in AOTC.

I can't argue with any of that.
