I liked that too! Dork Vader. I liked how he kept punching the spot where he'd been shot.

I like Mech's explanation regarding the room to grow, but looking at him within the confines of one movie makes him near useless.
edit: In fact, think about his impact on the movie. He basically sabotaged the First Order by providing motivation for Finn to abandon his post and then bringing Rey to the Star Killer. His side would have done better without him.

He's got one up on Maul so far.
I think it's really smart. A lot of the theming of this movie has to do with: How do you stand up and compare yourself to legends? It's very meta but kind of necessary and well done.
He would last about six milliseconds against Maul.
Now that's an interesting observation and something to look for during a re-watch.

Had the Republic sent an ex-Stormtrooper and a Force sensitive scrapper to fight him, I suspect Maul would have stayed in one piece. It took a fluke for him to be taken down by a Jedi Master and an exceptional Padawan.
edit: Every single one of the Jedi who got 30 seconds of screen time in Episode II would kick Kylo Ren's ass.
