Nicely done Geo. I need to finish chapter 6 and do those license, but I am having too much fun running around exploring.
I just acquired my Skell as well, after about 76 hours or so. I've spent a lot of time exploring Primordia/Noctilum/Oblivia and a bit of Sylvalum, setting up data probes, picking up treasure, and trying to fill the Collectopedia (need just 1 more item to complete the Primordia section) along the way. Plus a number of affinity quests, side quests, basic missions, and recently started heart-to-heart events as well. Pretty easy with Elma once I got a cat as a pet, having already maxed affinity with the bossy bossu best character in a JRPG ever.
Easy winner of best new character of 2015. Elma ditched that outfit long ago though, I'll post updated pictures of my squad.
It wasn't that long ago that I gained a better understanding of utilizing elemental attributes as well as melee/ranged combos with arts*, so a small part of me is actually a bit apprehensive about getting out of that groove to now learn about skells. That of course won't stop me from getting into a skell, I immediately bought the Level 30 Lailah frame once I got my license. That thing drives like a slippery eel though.
*First focused on a physical longsword build with thermal damage, which was pretty effective, then after switching classes I opted to try a lightsaber-wielding Galactic Knight build centered on beam damage. Although my main man Doug is basically in that same mold, so I'm thinking of immediately transitioning to ether or gravity after max investing the other arms manufacturers, and maybe checking out other weapons when I switch classes.
There's definitely a lot to digest with this game, I can see why members of the Western gaming enthusiast press of all people could find it especially daunting. That said however, at least to me so far, it never feels like it punishes you for not grasping everything. Appropriate of the setting and the story, you just find your way and play. Reminds me of Bravely Default from earlier this year, where they give you the tools to the point where it's seemingly skewed towards being broken in favor of the player, and even if you are far from hitting the optimal build, you can pretty much play it your way and go forward. At least until you come across a higher-level Tyrant.
Just saw that Finch had a bunch of time attack missions records, I haven't even touched those yet but now I want to. So much to do.
I have to stop myself from saying this is one of the best JRPGs that I've ever played, not to mention one of my favorite, just to wait and play the rest of the game. Whatever Takahashi does next, I'm absolutely there.

I hope she kept the glasses. Elma-cat spoiler: when asked if i liked cats or dogs best i told Elma i wanted to keep her as a pet and she said there was something wrong with me, that she was going to disassemble me to clean out the insides and make sure there was extra attention to cleaning around my brain. Elma the best
xenoblade getting too real
related: i just got my 1st level 50 Skell
edit: related because i kept blowing up my level 30 Skell and the 3 insurance tickets ran out long ago. It was costing me more than half the cost to salvage it. I switched to whatever faction it is that gets the highest rating every day so i can get Skell Repair tickets because i sure do need them.

Holy shit. I answered dogs. Honestly, I've lost count of how many times I've called Elma the best while playing.
Haha, same here. Other than division rewards, I'm not sure your own division matters that much anyways compared to speaking with others to get their division boosts, which I only recently figured out. For almost the entire time I had been merely passing by the avatars of other players. Live and learn in Xenoblade Chronicles X.I switched to whatever faction it is that gets the highest rating every day so i can get Skell Repair tickets because i sure do need them.
i picked up XC for teh 3ds. please tell me it gets interesting. i played up to the first little village, and the graphics are shit, and the battle system is boring as fuck. am i missing something.
