GOG brought it out first. If Steam had it first, they'd have my money. Country of origin is irrelevant, but I'll grant you the "privately owned" thing. Besides, an American company got my cash for this back in the 90s, and Steam gets enough of my money as it is.

I prefer GOG for older games that are no longer being updated so I don't really care about the Steam releaes.
