An official price drop now doesn't make a ton of sense, when there aren't games to capitalize on it. I'm sure it will come later this year, and we'll probably see a Super Mario 3D World bundle.

Man, that is the truth. I love what Nintendo's got going on with the 3DS and I really want to want a Wii U but.. yeah.
Honestly I want an Xbone and a PS4, I thought they both had great shows overall.
Just somebody at Sony, please, for the love of god, mention The Last Guardian already. It's like some kind of sick joke now. I guess they need something for TGS?
I never even knew there was some kind of thing Retro was working on that had people so hyped up. When I saw Direct, I was pretty happy to see another DKC Returns game coming. The one on the Wii/3DS is one of the best platformers I've ever played, so this will probably be the same.
I think Nintendo is thinking that the (50 dollar) price drop now won't help much and that they won't have a great opportunity to drop it again at the end of the year, so might as well wait until the other systems are right about there to do the drop. Games are momentum, sure, but the parents really don't know it doesn't have games. Maybe they don't even know it exists. Hell if I know.
I don't know if that will work.
There have been a ton of rumors circulating about their next game for a few years now. While DKCR was a well put together game, that series isn't for me. I don't like platformers that take on the "play through this level like 10 times to memorize to be able to get through" attitude, and that's the DKCR series. Plus I think they're really good at world creation, and making believable lived in worlds where ever corner is different. Something a 2-D side scroller is kind of wasted on.
Wold it be a self-contradictory to say Nintendo's thing was shockingly predictable? It seriously seems like a goddamn rerun at this point.
Nope. Even the joke usually has some level of untruth to it. This was like, if it was a drinking game, alcohol poisoning would be the only outcome.
Not that Sony and MS wouldn't do the same. They already make lots of HD collections and remakes. But there's other stuff made by third parties (and even themselves). Nintendo's new ventures/IPs almost never involve a large financial backing. So when you see the list of new stuff, most of it is stuff that isn't aimed at you or they put three people on it.
