Can I get in there and wing it in this game or do I need a FAQ soldered to my orbital socket?

you can wing it. every monster hunter game has a manual in the game itself that informs you of everything you need to know. so you dont really need a faq except for weapon trees as stated earlier. and maybe monster weakness charts.
