The region mod is trickier, but I use a mod chip instead of the old PITA mod. I wouldn't even attempt the old method.

I still have my TG-16, with the Turbo Booster.

I only have a handful of games for the system, with titles like KLAX, Galaga 90', Military Madness, Keith Courage in Alpha Zones, Legendary Axe, Alien Crush, Dungeon Explorer and Side Arms. I've been thinking about buying more HU card games for the system, but it's been so low on my list of systems to collect games for. I may hunt down a copy of Bonk's Adventure soon.

So is there any reliable places for Turbo repair?

Haven't played the Duo in over a year, plugged it in this weekend and nothing, nada. Hoped it was the brick and tried the Supergrafx adapter, still nothing. I'd rip into it myself but Duos seem like remarkably fragile systems.

Does it still have the original capacitors? It's only a matter of time before the original capacitor's leak and need replacing.

That's what I'm thinking. Did TTI use crap parts or is this simply inevitable?

Both the PC Engine and Duo have the same issue with leaky capacitors so it's more or less an inevitable occurrence. If you can locate a solid Duo community, you should easily find someone who could replace them for you and not gouge you for it.

Edit: I'm in a few groups on Facebook that have some rather knowledgeable people. I haven't had to use them but could point you in that direction, if needed.

So I'm moving the discussion here, since where I previously put it offended Yoshi so much.

So as some of you may know I recently got a Duo (I've had a TG16, booster, and a small amount of US games for like 10 - 15 years now). I've wanted one for years and finally bit the bullet on one. Also picked up an everdrive for it. This weekend I had some free time and played a ton of shooters on it. While this may be common knowledge I'm pretty blown away at how many awesome shooters never made it to our shores. I also finally started my playthrough of Books of Ys I + II. I ended up putting about 3 hours into it. This is a series I've wanted to get into since the 16 bit days, and I wish I hadn't waited so long to do so. It was weird at first to just bump into enemies to attack them, but I now find it oddly satisfying.

I'm hoping my modder will have some free time soon to RGB mod myself and recap it. I'm surprised by how clean the composite out on it is, but it still doesn't come close to RGB. I've got a TenNoKoe bank too, that way when it gets shipped to be recapped I can copy my Ys save off it and not loose it.

Now I just need to get a hold of an Arcade card for it.
