Why does WB think Superman needs to be unlikable and scary AND Batman needs to be unlikable and scary? It's a weird thing they're shooting for here.
It sounds like he's got some Howard Stern Bass Modulation going on, not just "This is my gruff voice hurr durr."

It wasn't in the past though. Superman used to be pretty bright in general which is what he should be.

I dunno, having people frown in every frame of the film and making sure every set has been peed on thoroughly might be a bad way to counter the Marvel movies. Somehow.

Lost in an Odyssey
Yeah it's been a really weird reversal for DC as a company to go the grimdark route, especially with stuff like Sue Dibney's rape in Identity Crisis and Geoff Johns comics having so much gore basically to cement the fact that DC aren't your dad's comics anymore.
Pretty much, aesthetically looks pretty neat though.
