If that's the case, why is our team still having the same problems even with all different parts? I mean, blowing leads is very specific, why are we still doing that better than any other team even with all the coaching and player changes? What are the odds?
It was one game, so it's a little early to say it's going to continue with the new coaching staff, isn't it? I get your argument though. It's like that saying "what do all of your bad relationships have in common? You."

  2. Unless there's horrendous play by your players, blowing leads is on the coaches and their scheme. It's that simple. Some blame can be assessed if a player is doing poorly, but if your defense can't keep the other team's offense off the field and your offense can't control the clock, you're going to lose. And a lot of what dicates that is the scheme created by the coaches.

People who watch NFL focus so much on the results when they should be focusing on the process. For example, going for it on fourth down - if it's a good idea then the coach that goes for it is doing a good job, even if it doesn't work out that one time.

I agree with that. And it's the head coach's job to keep that balanced, which is why I couldn't stand it when Garrett would get cute and expose the defense. Thank God he's no longer calling the plays.

Hell, this is true in just about any business. NFL fans are a lot like shareholders. They force stupid, premature decisions based on short term results. And GMs are like the boards that bow to them.

When the Texans advanced the ball to San Diego's 38-yard line, I started getting tweets from people who foresaw Houston running the ball three times before settling for a long field goal, a classic Jason Garrett trait in Dallas.

At this point, they should at least change their name and logo.

  10. Not a good start for the AFC North, with every team losing its season opener.

Week 2 has Cleveland at Baltimore and Pittsburgh at Cincinnati (MNF), so there's going to be some fierce division battles with two teams facing an 0-2 start.
