Some people really need to go outside, I think.
Some should *never* go outside, and this is ideal.
The solution to that is to not come back.
I don't think TNL supports GameTrailers video embedding, but I found this Pach-Attack! interesting.
I did too, lots of stuff I agree on.
Though the answer is obvious, Pachter explains why Valve has not gone public, among other topics, such as potential Nintendo acquisitions.
edit: I'm starting to like this guy. He'll never be right every time, but he communicates well and seems to be able to support his opinions and predictions.

Companies go public when they need more capital to expand, or when their owners want to cash out. Valve seems to do alright on both fronts. A lot of very large companies are private. Going public also increases disclosure requirements and paperwork.
Pachter is alright, I guess. Like I said before, if his analysis totally sucked and was worthless he wouldn't have a job.
I like him because NeoGAF goes apeshit every time he opens his mouth
More posts per day on a Pachter thread than this whole forum
YOU SAID FUSE WHAT SELL FIVE MILLION COPIES WHAT DO YOU KNOW
I'd hang out with him
oh, I just saw this had a ton of posts, I bet I said that before ;p

Pachter should probably steer clear of statistics in the future, based on the newest Pach Attack. I love the "anything less than 30 is not a valid sample size" statement. The question does make me want to look into 2007 though.
edit: New IPs in 2007 included (series in bold)...
- Hotel Dusk
- Rogue Galaxy
- Wii Play
- Maelstrom
- Supreme Commander
- Crackdown
- Bullet Witch
- MotorStorm
- Spectrobes
- S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
- Etrian Odyssey
- Odin Sphere
- Dream Chronicles
- Dirt
- The Darkness
- Overlord
- Luminous Arc
- Sam & Max
- BioShock
- Blue Dragon
- Dead Head Fred
- Lair
- Stranglehold
- Drawn to Life
- Jam Sessions
- Heavenly Sword
- Skate
- Eternal Sonata
- World in Conflict
- Folklore
- Clive Barker's Jericho
- Zack & Wiki
- Hellgate: London
- The Witcher
- Tabula Rasa
- Crysis
- Assassin's Creed
- Uncharted
- Mass Effect
- Rock Band
- Master of Illusion
Note: I did this off the top of my head, so I could be wrong about some being new or some having or not having sequels, but it's probably close. Also, that was a quite a run at the end of the year!
edit2: My conclusions are that the reader was way off on the 67% and that Pachter is way off on the 3, 6, or 9 new IPs.
edit3: Thanks to SSJN, we're getting closer on the 67% with 23/41.
edit4: 24/41, thanks to John.
