Why did we need Big the Cat and The Guru at all then? This doesn't cut it:

Each character is linked into one super-villain that you're chasing after. So, taking Nightwing as an example, his story is based around hunting down the Penguin, who's working in Gotham and supplying weapons to all of the super-villains throughout the city.

Batman has gone after the Penguin many times without any douchebag sidekick messing it up.

The fact that you can switch to them leaves the possibility that your mission will fail if you let them die. I don't know that to be the case. But it's definitely possible.

That just means you're not Batman enough if you let them die while in a fight.

Or they could just leave the churched up escort missions out and let me just play as Batman. Trust me, if I can leave them off screen and out of my experience 100% of the time, I will.

I don't understand how someone can be a Batman fan and have a problem with sidekicks. They've been a core part of the concept very nearly since the beginning.

I don't have a problem with them. I just don't want to be forced to use them. I play Batman games to be Batman. Not Batman and his numerous sidekicks. Why is that hard to grasp?
