Official game web site, although all in Japanese. There's also an article on Crunchyroll, of all places, and they mention an incoming Kickstarter for the game.

I would love to see a straight remake of the original game. Target Earth/Assault Suit Leynos is one of my all time favorite Genesis games.

Yeah, this is pretty exciting. I hope it looks good when finished, I'm not crazy about the bigass static warship sprite in the trailer.

Also, the soundtrack to the odd numbered stages in Target Earth wins the award for funkiest bass line in the entire 16-bit era.

I'll have to see a lot more than what's on the official site before I get my hopes up, but it's nice to know that someone's is at least going to give it a shot.
I think I may have beaten Target Earth twice in the four or so years that I owned it, but I played it a lot.
I've never played the Saturn game, though.
