Thread: Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS), multiplayer action RPG with jobs versus Summons

  1. Final Fantasy Explorers (3DS), multiplayer action RPG with jobs versus Summons

JP release date: December 18th, 2014
Final Fantasy Explorers is in development for the Nintendo 3DS, this week’s issue of Jump magazine reveals. The game is a multiplayer action RPG, where you search for crystals while battling the Summons in your way.

Final Fantasy Explorers will let you select from multiple Jobs, each with their own role. Jump’s reveal shows the Black Mage, White Mage, Knight and Monk.

The Black Mage attacks using magic and specializes in long-range attacks. The White Mage, as always, is focused on recovery spells.

The Monk’s description should come as no surprise to anyone that has played Final Fantasy before either—he’s the representative for physical attacks. Jump says he “overwhelms the enemy with his surging dash”. Finally, the Knight serves as the party’s shield, by attracting the enemy’s attacks.

Jump says that many Jobs from the Final Fantasy series will be present in Final Fantasy Explorers. Parties can consist of up to four players, and you’ll need to use each Job effectively to take on the enemy. The goal of the campaign is to defeat the different generations of Summons.

According to Jump, Final Fantasy Explorers will have a large variety of weapons to choose from. The magazine also shows Ifrit as one of the Summons in the game.

Final Fantasy Explorers doesn’t have a release date yet. Square Enix is listed as the game’s developer.

  2. Thank you, Bravely Default.

  3. First footage from today's Nintendo 3DS Direct for third-party games in Japan:

Looks pretty good, I'm definitely interested. The game is scheduled for a winter release in Japan, as reportedly announced in the Direct.

  4. Looks pretty rad.
You don't have to be smart; you don't have to know the facts, you just have to be confident.

  5. This game looks like a turd coated w/ poison

Final Fantasy Explorers is coming to the West on the Nintendo 3DS in 2016 (January 26th – NA and January 29th – Europe)!

Band together to form an elite squad of Explorers with your friends, braving hordes of monsters in hopes of conquering a newly discovered Grand Crystal – every Explorer’s dream!

  7. Looks like a spiritual successor to Crystal Chronicles. I liked the DS FF:CC games, so...

  8. Almost looks like Final Fantasy MonHun. I'm in.

If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. No, the irony is not lost on me.

  10. Two great tastes that go great together.
