Exactly which Metroid games (2D) have RPG elements to them? Metroid may not have been the first but it damn sure made the genre popular. Castlevania jumped on its back long after the fact.

None of them, which is exactly my point. IF the game incorporates all the changes Castlevania made to the Metroid formula I will begrudgingly allow the Metroidvania title, but like 90% of the time they don't at all and should just be called Metroid-likes.
