Thread: Overwatch

  1. Had a POTG earlier that was just watching Torb walk back from respawning while his turret killed three people on the opposite side of the map. Thrilling.

I do feel like his turrets need to be nerfed in some way regardless. The combination of health/damage/lock-on/range makes them better than having a Bastion on the team a lot of the time, before even counting the bonuses Torb himself brings. I also still hate the flow of matches and rarely ever feel like my contribution had much if anything to do with whether my team won or lost, except when I'm playing Reinhart.

I'm not sure what should be done considering the focus is supposed to be everyone at once at one spot, but maybe some way of earning objective points without every fight entirely about trying to create or break a stalemate would help a lot. Perhaps a mode where there's two moving escorts, one from each side, and each team is trying to get theirs to the other end first? I'm not sure, but right now it feels like nothing's progressing during a lot of matches, which is often the point if you're on defense but isn't very thrilling.

Aside from all that, I love the characters more and more as I play. Figuring out counters is always great and I love it when a whole team is so focused on one spot that I can just come in from a side passage and start plowing. Suiciding with Reinhart is also a lot of fun, at one point I carried someone through a quarter of the level with that charge until we finally went flying off a cliff, which was made better because their Zenyatta decided to toss a healing orb on the guy about halfway down like that was going to save him.

When I play as Torbjorn, I don't feel like the turrets are overpowered at all. Pharah usually knocks them right out. As a TF2 player, I am possessed to get turrets, Bastions and Widows out of their nest real quick. It's the first thing I do. It's easy with Pharah, Winston, Hanzo's super, Reaper, etc.

Also, I would bet money that Blizz will introduce a mode that has a payload for each team. TF2 already does it. I think it's called payload race over there. It is a lot more fun than the current playmode. When I'm playing Overwatch, I miss being able to play good old CTF. That's my go-to in TF2. I can see them doing it but they may have to put restrictions on player class per team. I can already see a team of Reinhearts all going in together with shields and getting the flag!

  3. Overwatch

I've been focusing on Tracer as my main, then cycling through Bastion, Widow, Reinhardt, and Junkrat as necessary. I wish Tracer had, like, 25 more health. It's too easy for her to die. Even when I kill other Tracer's I feel like she didn't even have a chance.

I agree about Torb. The turrets can be more than obnoxious on escort missions. Just hang back and upgrade them the whole fucking match and then grab a sandwich. POTG.
    Boo, Hiss.

  4. When I play as Torb, unless someone already has the drop on me my turrets feel crazy most of the time. I once got ambushed by two people while I was repairing a turret, they killed me and my turret killed them both at point blank range without me firing a single shot and no ultimate on. It can out-dps in a solo fight against a tank at point blank range where the tanks are usually strongest and with the most HP, which seems all kinds of messed up to me. I feel like one of the things I mentioned needs to be toned down a tad (not all of them, it's the combination of all of those that I find so deadly), mainly because they're fire and forget with instantaneous lock-on. Definitely had times where the only way through a turret nest is an ultimate.

icarus: In case you didn't notice (I didn't at first) her recall also brings her back to whatever health she had, so try to use that as soon as you start getting hit. And never get near a McCree.

  5. Torb is fine as he is, you just have to be willing to change classes to counter him.

McCree is my choice for closest to OP. Flashbang + right click = dead anything.

  6. Overwatch

Mech: For sure. I use it almost anytime I start feeling any heat. She also lets out a gasp when below a threshold, so you have an audio cue. I'm not saying they need to do much. Just 25 health and I think it'd feel a little better - shit, even 15. She has 150, which is faaaar below anyone else. I'm sure top level players don't see a problem, but that's not the majority of play.
    Boo, Hiss.

  7. Zenyatta has 150 health too

  8. Zenyatta needs a buff for sure. McCree a nerf.

  9. I almost exclusively play Pharah.

She feels a lot like I'm playing Unreal Tournament:Rocket Arena again.
look here, upon a sig graveyard.

  10. #100
how do I shooter with a controller.
It's like I've been doing this since Halo but it still sucks.

Overwatch and Doom and like two amazing shooters with really old-school sensibilities and it just feels weird with a controller, but I'll get used to it!!!!!!
