Turbo Tunnel is actually one of the easier levels in the game.
Every level that comes after it is harder. Some are wayyyyy harder.
I doubt I have the reflexes anymore to get anywhere near finishing the original these days.

It's almost entirely rote memorization since most the hard stuff is timed at specific intervals. The game tends to look harder than it actually is, but as I recall the snake climbing had kind of loose hit detection for jumping between parts of a coiling snake and if you're learning it there's a ton of blind jumps off the screen to things you can't see that's involved.
Or you can just take the easy warp exit on the second snake screen and get the fuck out of that joint.
