Wow. I only wish Sega were publishing it to make it officially official.
Some of you may remember that Game Atelier had a cancelled Kickstarter campaign for their sequel to Flying Hamster, Flying Hamster II: Knight of the Golden Seed. Unlike the first, which was a wacky indie shooter, the sequel would have been a Monster World-style action RPG. We knew the KS cancellation had come about because they found a publisher, but they made a few more announcements today.
Here is the latest post.
To summarize, Game Atelier is working together with Ryuichi Nishizawa, one of the original founders of Westone and director of the Wonder Boy series. They've turned FHII into Monster Boy, a full-fledged unofficial but seriously pretty fucking official entry into the Wonder Boy franchise.
Official website.
TL;DR - This is the greatest day.

Wow. I only wish Sega were publishing it to make it officially official.
This makes me very happy.
Is this real life?
it is real life
you don't have to be wizard of booze to believe this
No, but it helps.
Hell yes. I wonder how involved Nishizawa is going to be.
Given the fucked up ownership of the IP, Sega owning rights to the name but not the rest of the IP isn't really enough for me to consider it unofficial. They can still use all the story, locations, music, and enemies from the series.
EDIT: Yeah, I guess they addressed that in the post that it is officially set in the Monster World universe and "official" except for the name.

I'll probably try this but the look of the characters and monsters are a turn-off.
The art seems a bit off but I'll give them the benefit.
Looks like transformations return too.
