Stupid frickin internet history!!!! Need help here!

Okay, I'm running Windows XP Home on this new system I have, a far cry from WIN 95 on my other comp. Anyway, I was used to being able to clear the history on Win95 with no problems at all, and I could always access the 'history' folder and manually delete stuff if I wanted to.

Now in Windows XP, it seems I can't do fucking either! Every time I go to Internet Options and click the 'delete history' button, I go back to check if everything has been deleted - its all still there!!! I tried going into "My computer" to look for the actual History directory to manually delete stuff myself but upon opening the History directory - I found a 'DAT' file instead of all the web pages I was expecting to find. What the hell?!!

And before anyone says anything, no I haven't been looking at Porn or some shit - its just that one needs a certain amount of privacy on their comp - I don't even like people knowing I go to this place or any site for that matter - thats my business. And its a habit of mine to clear the History and Temp Internet files just before I get offline.

So, any Windows XP users out here who know what the hell is up with this? Any help would be rewarded with many smiley faces of differring kinds!

As opposed to making porn jokes, I'll tell you that you can access your history by opening Internet Explorer (assuming you have it) and click the "History" button on the toolbar. search through the folders for whatever web page whose history you intend to delete, highlight it, and press the delete button. Problem solved.

XP Power Tools @ www.microsoft.com cleans that up after you restart I think. Tweak UI did and I belive this is pretty much the same thing. Go see that site for details (in the Download section).

Thanks Rick for that tip - pretty obvious actually, makes me feel like a schmuck for not figuring that out. Anyway I'll try out Tracers suggestion all the same.
