It is a stick but it's not a very good one. To make fine movements (particularly at lower frame rates), you have to do things you don't normally do with the other controllers. I would have to do this slight diagonal motion in Zelda to cut some of the horizontal out because otherwise I would over shoot.
It's closer to a stick than to Vita's nub, but the range of motion is smaller than what you normally expect from a console controller, which I guess could impact precision, but I never really thought twice about it.
Not particularly, but if you look at it as a portable it still has probably the best analogs in a portable. I'd take the Switch's nubs over the Vita's or the 3ds's circle slider.
I'm still hoping a third party comes along with joycon replacement with better analogs, a real dpad and maybe better ergonomics.
I have no issue with Vita's nub, not sure what you guys are using.
