Nintendo has patented a controller with shoulder scroll wheels. I'm struggling to come up with applications of these. Zooming and panning come to mind, but I can't imagine that's it.

Nintendo's controllers are like Apple's mice, except that you don't always have the option of leaving it in the box and using a normal controller.

Nintendo's marketing was a dud. They confused the hell out of everyone originally by making it seem like the tablet was a Wii add on and never recovered.
Gamepad is shit. Although for Mario Maker it's pretty good.
I like the Gamepad but only because I can go lay on my bed and play on it. I have zero use for it when I am in the same room as the console with the obvious exception of Mario Maker.
