Yeah, I like Virtual On a lot as an arcade game, but as a home experience it's never been something I'd pay $50+ for. And even if I loved it, ARMS looks to have a lot less characters with smaller movesets and far less dynamic arenas. I get the passing resemblance in the gameplay, but the content doesn't really seem to match up.

I'm sure it'll be a fine game at $20, but I feel like a lot of people picking it up at launch are going to feel Steel Diver'd.

But do we know what they demoed was the final build?

Seems a little close to release for them to hold back. I can't imagine that they wouldn't have featured more characters in the reveal trailer, if they had more of them to show.

Nintendo going hard on FE:

February 2017: FE Heroes (Android / iOS "soon")
May 2017: FE Echoes (3DS)
Fall 2017: FE Warriors (Switch/3DS)
2018: Mainline FE (Switch)

Heroes looked better than could be expected from a mobile game. The attack animations weren't so hot, but the overall style looks good and the character portraits by various artists looked pretty fantastic. We'll see how nefarious the IAP urging is.

That anyone cares about Fire Emblem lore is inconceivable to me. I've played damn near all of them and can't name a character aside from Marth and Roy because Smash Bros and Donny (Donald?) because he had a bucket on his head.

They're disposable. The gameplay relies on their disposability.
