I'm fairly certain you can find the same argument made against guys in other sports on this very board if you really care that much. It's just like the Art Ross vs. the Hart in the NHL. One is determined by numbers. The other is supposed to be more than that.

Baseball is a collection of individuals more than other sports. Harper can only bat maybe 13% of the time, field maybe the same amount. Manning has the ball 50% of the time, Lebron maybe 35%. Could Harper have done more? Sure, and so could anyone else.

I wasn't framing it in terms of MVP, though I think he earned it as he was the only one propping up that dumpster fire. I was framing it in terms of all the people you could blame for that mess, he's the last one. He's the only guy in that team that showed up.

That's negative value though. He reduced the size of the mushroom cloud over DC. He's the anti-Griffin. I don't want that.
