I just hope they don't ditch controller support.
And I'm sure it will hit consoles eventually.
Fuck yes.
Looks pretty sick imo, I like the designs here more than the 1994 and 2012 games.
If you told me that was some Mass Effect gaiden, I'd probably believe you.
I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite strategy game on the Citadel.
IGN has been revealing details of XCOM 2. The highlights:
- Procedurally generated maps, heavily destructible.
- Secondary objectives in missions.
- No gamepad support at launch.
- More ways to get the drop on the aliens and take some shots before they scatter to cover.
Procedural maps is enough to make me very excited, since that was my chief complaint about XCOM: Enemy Unknown. The setting reminds me a little of the cancelled Dreamland Chronicles: Freedom Ridge by Mythos Games, or the UFO series by ALTAR Interactive. (Which was supposedly included assets from Dreamland Chronicles, but nothing I saw in those games ever matched the screenshots of the cancelled title.)
Bummer
Sounds like I'm passing at launch.
I feel like they're saying all the right things. Procedurally generated maps are generally a red flag for me, but not in this case. I'm pretty excited to see what I expect to be a Civ-style interface in this.
It'll get a console port and controller support eventually.
