I think project Ako was the last thing I watched that fits the thread
Going through the old 1987 Dirty Pair OVAs, they're still stylish as hell. I get a feeling the show (and the novels it's based on) owes a lot to the Robert Heinlein book "Friday".
You watchin' any of these big-eyed speed-lines cartoons lately? Post a clip of what you like about it.

I keep meaning to come back to Dancouga
A-Ko's a good one! I like the action sequences and the weirdo Superman/Wonder Woman connection.
Apparently they started making it as a porno then decided they wanted to go in a different direction, the B-Ko bath scene is the only hold out.
one day i'm going to go back to my old scifi channel anime tapes and upload the commentary from that director that narrated it.
Now that I've seen Streets of Fire, I think it's time for me to go back and finish watching Bubblegum Crisis
I watched Akira two nights ago for the first time since probably the day after this came out:

This movie, uh... this movie has some real pacing problems. It's never clear what's at stake.
That soundtrack, though.
Akira kind of transcends needing a coherent plot, the craftsmanship is unmatched on every other level. Thing's like an Art Object, a collection of beautiful sequences.
The 6 phonebooks worth of manga solve a lot of the plot problems, but also don't really nearly fit in a 120 minute movie.
Ghost in the Shell is another case of this I think, the plot/pacing leave something to be desired but it's so well made otherwise.

Ghost in the Shell is such a nice way to remember Masamune Shirow before he flipped out and started doing horse porn full-time.
Watched Macross Plus again about a month ago. Still my favorite Macross.
Currently Playing: Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster (PC), Let's Build a Zoo (PC) & Despot's Game (PC)
