Thread: TNL Gentlemen's Laserdisc Society

  1. I'm thinking about solutions for copying things like the Twin Peaks International Pilot or that crazy Godfather Trilogy chronological set. Not in a big hurry or anything. I'm wondering if that would get you better results than using a Dazzle composite-to-pc connection or some such.

A friend from college messaged me on FB and apparently picked up 20 Criterions from the flea market for me this week for $2 a hit, I am pleased.

Copy that Godfather business. There really isn't a version of it out there, and I know a guy who has a mom that wants a copy.

I only have the theatrical versions!

  4. Laserdisc Haul!

Aliens Special Edition, Pulp Fiction (Criterion), Bubblegum Crisis volumes 2, 3, and 4, some rando idol anime, You're Under Arrest volumes 1 & 2, Gunsmith Cats vol. 1, An American Tale, Fievel Goes West, ZZ Top Greatest Hits (plays like a David Lynch film), The Public Eye (not on DVD), Leonard Nimoy Director's Edition Star Trek IV, The Rocketeer.

Everything after Pulp Fiction was fifty cents a pop.

Nice! I need dat Pulp Fiction...

Had to tinker with the setup a bit. Godfather 2 looked great run though the dvd recorder, but Star Wars looked like ass. I think it's the 3d comb filter, they sometimes don't do well with motion and Star Wars is constant motion. I ended up taking my old Extron composite to svideo converter (which has a 2d comb filter) and then using the recorder to covert svideo to component. It looked great after that.

    Onward to Empire!
