Thread: Star Wars Card Trader: The Definition of Insanity

  1. If these were actual trading cards, I'd be tempted to buy them, but digital? LOL.

If you're buying the physical copy from 1977 from a shop you're helping a local business.
Sticking to the comic example, if you buy a digital comic, the money is going to IDW, DC, Marvel, etc.

edit: I strongly suspect your local business example is a small minority these days. Most vintage stuff is being bought from re-sellers over the internet.

edit2: When the bottom drops out of the Amiibo market, the figures will be essentially worthless and then thrown away by a lot of people. That's far worse to me than the server side images being deleted someday.

I like that yoshi supports pure bullshit as long as it is eco friendly.

Which pure bullshit am I supporting? I haven't even downloaded this app, let alone spent a penny on it. I just don't understand taking offense at its existence.

  5. I mean they're not Yo MTV Raps cards or anything cool like that, but somebody likes 'em I guess.

It's not so much as offensive to me but the idea that an item that isn't real when compared to it's physical counterparts is being sold as if it was real. People calling it a "rare" item when it seriously is impossible to define it as such when you can simple make more copies of this item and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference from a first or second print run because it's unable to be touched physically. There's the rub which Melf and a few others are trying to make a point towards you my good man.

Baseball Cards, Comics, and yes even CCGs like MtG keep their values up or down because they are real objects which people know were made in limited quantities. A jpeg isn't & cannot be compared the same because anyone can have access to the same image and easily copy it & flip it for money and nobody could say if it was real or fake. At least with physical items there's a way to honestly have something to hold in your hand to examine and understand if you have a legit item or not. This is just simple stupidity getting people to pay for something that is and never will be real.

I'm less upset because now I see it as free money from idiots, depending on how the app works.

Brettmatic has the right idea. If you can play it and collect cards without paying a cent.

Some people enjoy sounding with the flat end of nine inch nails. I don't know why or how "people like it, so it is ok" is a counter argument with you in just about every instance. You're like the poster boy for tolerance.

"that guy shoved a brick in his anus"
"did he like it? Then it is ok"
