Thread: Star Wars Card Trader: The Definition of Insanity

Games that are only released digitally seem to always be priced accordingly, but they tend to forget that when it's a mixed release.

Adding the "console" in there completely changes the scope of the discussion. Hell, even on the physical side, the residual value of a game can be hugely negatively impacted by not paying extra for XBL/PS+ for example.

They don't forget anything. Blame GameStop and the like for not letting publishers charge less for digital by threatening shelf space reductions.

I will. It still won't change my spending habits.

This is pretty much my thoughts as well. I don't like the idea of paying full retail for a digital game when I can even sometimes find a physical copy for less.

That statement is almost entirely limited to console games, which is a subset of the entire argument. Once you choose to buy an inferior version for full price, you might as well get some paper and plastic thrown in.

    This is complete nonsense.
You obviously have internet access, so if you can't be bothered to connect your console to it, that's your problem.

As long as game companies continue to outsource PC versions of games the superiority of PC games can hardly be seen as universal yet. It's still a case by case basis.

But yes, good prices thanks to fair competition from different online storefronts, the cheap storage space, and the forward compatibility for the foreseeable future make a lot of PC versions great choices.

It's still part of the discussion is it not? I mean Digital I'm aware is the future of a lot of things. I've no doubt but brick & mortar stores will not be going anywhere anytime soon for a long time as well. The Star Wars cards is just a terrible thing to me in terms that people are giving away real money for something they're only buying to right to use but never own.

Yeah, it's part of it, but it has unique circumstances that don't apply elsewhere, like having to pay for XBL or PS+, generations coming to an end, etc.

You might want to read the EULA for any software you have ever bought.
