Leaving the front door open prolongs the life, as does periodically turning on the fans, but yeah... It'll eat your DC eventually.

Mine still had the original kiosk model DC right up to the day I sold it, and I never had any problems with it.
I think they were a little more reliable than retail units.
I never ran the fans, but always had the front open.

Granted, they ran 10 hours a day e'ery day.
