Thread: Games Journalism

  1. Games Journalism

I couldn’t find the old thread.

Anyway, I give you a reasonably long article about a guy bitching about the Nintendo Switch’s sleep functionality preventing him from seeing the title screen and thus destroying his emmersion. How did this get past the editor? It could have easily been reworked into an explanation of the “magic circle” with good examples. Instead it comes across as a guy crying about the most mundane shit.

So... why doesn't he just exit the game when he's done instead of putting it in suspend mode?

Right. Or it could have been framed as, "What gets lost/how does affect change when we use suspend/sleep mode," instead of, "Sleep mode ruined it."

Click the fightmans games article links. That's up and coming and has knowledge and experience behind it!

  9. They should have changed the title to “See this one strange trick that will increase your gaming immersion that Nintendo doesn’t want you to know about”.

I thought this was fine as an opinion piece. Was it lumped in with 'news'? Maybe it just doesn't belong on Polygon at all?
