Thread: new Star Trek tv series

  1. This was alright! Not sure why Spock needs a human step-sister or why the Klingons have even weirder heads now, but not a bad start for a sci fi show at all.

    I don't know what they're thinking with this streaming service thing, you'd think they'd be after a hook to get viewers back to over-the-air TV but they're flushing that right out of the gate. This was the first network show I've watched live in a decade, and now they're dropping that line cold.

  2. Watched the new Trek.

    Not going to judge the series on two episodes but I will say there were a lot of choices made by the producers which I flat out hated. The plot seems like it could be interesting but they need to invent the Universal Translator realllllllly fucking bad.

    And I realize that you guys down south will have to subscribe to CBSOnline or whatever to watch this uh...legally. I'd recommend waiting on that. Maybe they'll have a free weekend after the season and you can binge it.

    Actually I think the way they explained that was better than I thought it would be. She's basically an orphaned refugee, and Sarek has a human wife. And the human orphanages were all full. Or something.

  9. You know, I actually kind of liked that. I mean I don’t know where anything is going yet so I’ll see. But there was some Fuller tropes in there (the gothy death stuff, the obsession with organic aesthetics) and it showed through. The dialogue was way too clinical, but I bet that will taper off. I’m intrigued!
