Thread: Massive Infocom Info-dump

  1. Massive Infocom Info-dump

While it's not my kind of thing, from a gaming-history perspective it's pretty fascinating. During the filming of Get Lamp Jason Scott got in touch with Steve Meretzky and found out not only did Meretzky save absolutely everything from his Infocom days, it was relentlessly organized as well. Now the first 4000 pages have been put online, covering-

    Infocom Sales Data
Photographs and Slides during Infocom’s Life
    Advertisements and Ad Copy
    Phone and Employee Lists
    Development Schedules
    Zork Implementation Language documentation
Moving Infocom to its Second Cambridge Location
    And for individual game development-

    Planetfall (1983) (Part 1, Part 2)
    Sorcerer (1984)
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (1984)
    A Mind Forever Voyaging (1985)
    Leather Goddesses of Phobos (1986)
    Stationfall (1987)
Zork Zero: The Revenge of Megaboz (1988)
I'm not copy/pasting each individual link, but the post giving more details on the origin and acquisition of this info does. If you want to root through Infocom's data files, it's right over here.

Holy crap, this is wonderful. I don't really enjoy a lot of Infocom's games but this is still incredible for anyone interested in the history of video games.

  3. Holy wow. I want to dig through the Hitchhiker's Guide materials especially.

  4. I was paging through Leather Goddesses of Phobos and they've got ads pulled from catalogs of the day for clothing reference.

Nice find. Meretzky's one of my favourite classic adventure game makers so this should be interesting to check out.
