This is a cute gesture, but no household is buying that as their sole washing machine. Maybe in a hurricane, or power outage? Great. The smallest of trickle downs doesn't really help much. You have to change the core of energy use. Dinosaur bones.

What can be done? Pretty much nothing. But that's the kind of brinkmanship that has prevailed for a few centuries and got us here. What else can we do? Self imposing restrictions and setting an example to the rest of the world are fine and all, but yes it won't matter if nobody else follows suit.
It increasingly seems like laughing or just staring at a corner really are the only options. So very tired.
I'm just glad you defeatist drama queens aren't running things.
