This is probably true and also the stores probably didn't order many. Places like Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Toys R Us would have been informed about it months before release. Nintendo shipped how many retail outlets ordered, which probably wasn't much. Specially considering that the other plug n play devices sell like shit at 20 - 30 bucks with 3 - 4 times the amount of games, and this was coming from a company having a hard time moving their main console, retail chains probably didn't have much faith in it. Then boom everyone wants one and there's no time in the production pipeline (remember they don't own factories and have to get time in one), chips ordered, produced, assembled and shipped from China on a boat. My guess is February or March there's going to be a shit ton of them in stores once production has caught up and finally ships a bunch.

It's not some grand scheme, they're a conservative company that doesn't want a ton of stock sitting on shelves not selling.

Well I wouldn't be playing arcade games on a Wii anyway, that's just silly i tried once but it was nonsense to set up and it only took 2 seconds on my mac that doesn't support anything

  3. According to Pat the NES Punk's video, Nintendo hadn't even shipped half a million of these between Japan and North America. You'd think that Amazon would have easily ordered a half million of these on day one.

I believe your response was to me saying that PC would do it all. And that is why Melf said MAME in response to your response.

  4. Yeah. I was really disappointed that the Wii doesn't run MAME. I was using my modded Xbox but it died. It was nice to have something right there connected to the TV.

As for the NES Classic, I have never seen a single unit anywhere here, and they bring all the plug-'n-plays. Walmart had a little sign thing on the 3DS cabinet door, but that's it. I've seen tons of the Atari, Colecovision, and Intellivision ones, though.

i'm not saying a Wii is as good as a computer at running anything but NES, TG16, Master System, Super NES, NeoGeo, etc etc etc

it's a cheap setup that doesn't require additional fiddling to connect to a Sony Trinitron which will display these games in the way they look best and play best and if you don't hate Nintendo controllers then you have that too
    Donk

The PC has just about every option covered. You can even add scanlines to make it look like it's running on a CRT.

No it doesn't, but component on a sd Trinitron beats any filter or scaling device.

  9. I got to play Sega CD Snatcher on my Wii with lightgun support, that's a solid win.
